From the above I would say it sounds like Laudrup wasn't willing to commit his future to the club - though why it would be better to make this decision now, rather than a couple months before/after.
Swansea haven't had as good of a season but they're doing a lot better than Norwich and they have gone without their star players for much of the season (Vorm, Williams, Michu).
Thats a real shame, as I have enjoyed Laudrup being a coach and the way he conducts himself
