Nah no worries, I've got it now and the bit you mean is obvious.

Feels like "rotation" would be the movement most likely to damage it, so maybe avoid that... that said it's the same mount on my gem 2.0 and that's shown no complaints after years of rough treatment

My impression is that you could turn the band through 90 degrees in order to stem mount it and it would be ok. If you rolled the light sideways or forwards, I agree, it does look like it might break. Good to know it's held up ok for you though.
