i need your advice. won't be able to do it for a while because of time constraints because i want to effin' TOTALLY finish my degree this month, but some time to make my mind up would be nice.
i think i need to consolidate. moneywise, spacewise, etc. make the most of the oncoming changes in my life.
predicament #1: road bike.
current project: 200? columbus airplane frame. unknown taiwanese. custom diy paointjob involving geometrics, black and fluo yellow. design still in the works
i'm a pair of brifters away (preferably new form centaur) of completing the "gruppo" consisting of lower end campag; Veloce UT crankset, Mirage/Veloce mechs, noice wheelset of Neutrons.
Current roadbike: '94 Gazelle 731OS, really nice...
as you see; really beautiful...
Chorus/record stuff and triple comp cranks and fd.
Real nice but i haven't used it much. Frame will be worth CASHMONEYZ in a couple months. stainless stays and forks too.
So, i could merge these two. the gazelle is great but ild like to go more modern with crabonz, ahead etc.. also, ild like the new shape shifters because i dont really like the shape of the record ones..
i could strip gazelle and build up airplane to try. ild preferebly fit the compact UT's to that.. then decide if i could or would sell the gazelle.. or is it such a special one im crazy of thinking to swap it for something quite generic (but quality).
(orange one)
full period ofmega, beautiful bike. rides a dream, geo is superfun. sorry for the mega picture.
track bike but more road fixed bike #2, donohue built gw, 731OS
my day to day bike. stem is now a jag to drop my position. could be even lower..
this geo is more relaxed; slack headtube, no toe overlap etc.. full da 7710/7410. i think the frame is somewhat too tall; hence the deep drop jag with bulls.
so, my predicament here is that the gazelle is superfun and superbeautiful. quite ratty though, which opens potential.
donohue is rad/rat, but a bit big and geo is too slack for real fun.. gruppo is perfect; ill last a couple of decades with it hopefully..
so; seeing as i simply can't afford anymore to have a hang about bike like the gazelle is right now, im thinking of merging them..
so, best of both worlds; transfer DA to Gazelle, plus rack, bulls etc. then possibly keep wheels because they noice and i love the rims. sell off beautiful 70s stuff. i feel the difference between the da 7710 cranks and the ofmegas on campagnolo centaur though; da's so much smoother..
ild basically end up with a frankenbike. im even thinking of selling off the donohue without forks and fit them to the gazelle for extra comical effect and brake hole. rake is about the same; 32mm to mental 25mm of the gazelle. apparently gazelle fork is also not drillable because of to little clearance. i reckon some would hang me by the balls too if i would.
other option would be to swap gazelle for a&p's vivalo if he's still up for it and have a bike that would be similar ride and on which the da would aesthetically fit.
do not know if a fluorescent viv as daily ride would be a good idea though.. (im not in london but bike theft is an important consideration 'ere in NL)
do love the donohue purple though. its sparkly...
so. as from above novelle you see my dilemma. what do you think?
