The original was tighter than the SKS on my Dad's Bob Jackson, the main reason is that the alu is quite thick and rub on the tyres.
Ditch the brake mount and drill a holes on the mudguard to mount it on the brake bridge/crown instead, they take up a lots of room.
The wider rims mean that the tyres poke out a tad and have lots of side splash.
Still look awesome thought.
