  • Currently using a 70 mm stem but would never any further. I only installed it so my bike would look more normal and trendy. 42mm will always be ready for action though

  • This stem length argument is a load of bollocks. Has noone ever noticed that tall people seem to overwhelmingly like long stems and short people seem to like short stems?

We're all trying to ride frames designed to have the front wheel as close as possible to our feet leaving us with all roughly the same toptube lengths despite our differing heights, hence the stem lengths to compensate.

Yes, there are outliers, but they're dafties which can be ignored. What next, are we going to argue on saddleheight?

948mm saddle to bb, ftw! It'll make your bike handle better.

  • Fuck off, it's all about 942mm for lower centre of gravity.

  • fuck off higher centre of gravity gives you more polo speed stability! and makes you more attractive

  • If I used 940 I wouldn't be able to pedal a full revolution.

  • My saddle points to the right a bit too, it helps as I attack down the left more often and it means shooting is more accurate from there.

  • And it's more comfortable as my nob hangs to the left. Although i hear a lot of the Americans are trying out hanging to the right.

  • Probably more of an issue for DublinKev

  • You could extrapolate the faeces for a given manouver, but it wouldn't be clean or sanitary. Expressing the change in absolute bowel height through 180 degrees of straining would be doable, but that wouldn't take account of bullshit.

    .

  • For a given bull, the bowel height is pretty constant.

  • constantipated.

  • This shite cud go on for a while.

  • Hey everyone who has recently changed to madly-wide handlebars... are you still on the full 170cm width or can you recommend an 'ideal' width? What are your experiences?

  • 1.75m is where it's at.

  • 56cm is where it's at, anyone riding anything even slightly different is wrong, no matter what size they or their bike are.

  • how long must my seatpost be to be good at this bike hockey 'sport'?

Please provide me with the optimum dimensions of seatpost length and girth (is girth as important? I never know) in order to enable me to become a great champion and get a sweet contract being sponsored by Dr Evil's own multi national brand of child labour, factory-made clogs.

Please also let me know if spending loads of money on said seatpost is guaranteed to win me more games than those with inferior seatposts or whether there is a specific brand and colour of seatpost that is the real key to the game.

Pm me with your answers as i want to keep this dynamite close to my chest

    Ask Ali...

  • i love it when stoner emerges as the wizened one.

I cut mine down to 64cm with the aim of taking off a cm from each side to find the most comfortable.

Punkture's making fun, but seatpost height (not brand) will effect your game.

I was getting a cramped neck with flat bars and a high saddle and was struggling to look ahead of me. Now 4cm rise bars with a slightly lower saddle makes a world of difference. width was experimental (after trying Seb's bike) but I love it.

  • Ask Ali...

I was using 60cm, but I cut them down to 58cm.

It seems to have helped me to make a little less contact with other players when in a tight spot.

I would recommend you try at about this width and cut them down a bit further if you need.

  • Yeah, cos your bars hit the player first. Infringement! ;)

  • Ahaha, 170 - what was I thinking?! :)

Thanks guys! That helps. I'll experiment. Apollo, that's interesting - seat post/riser. Thanks again!

You have to filter out a lot of shite but once or twice a year I sound like I know what I'm doing.

  • nah fam it's all about body metrics. You guys are nuts. Arbitrary nonsense.

My bars are the exact length of my arms, the seatpost length is the length of my foot, and my stem is as long as my face.

  • Sounds good to me
