• I'll be using them brakeless but ambidextrous. I've only used proper road shoes before with SPD-SL cleats and stuff. Any ideas how they'd compare for stopping power? Similar? Thanks for the help by the way.

    I've never used road shoes, so can't compare to them, but they're really bloody good. Much better then a canvas shoe should be. In some instances, they were far stiffer than a couple of MTB shoes I've used before.
    The laces, while annoying to put on and remove, have yet to fail. They might un-tighten a bit after half a days riding, but then so do all shoes.
    If you whip skid a lot, you will feel the shoe move a bit, but that's after really aggressive/downhill skids.
