• might be a stupid question but how do shoes like the Chrome Kursk SPDs stand up to fixie skidding? I think i'd prefer time atacs and casual SPD shoes to straps and normal shoes for pub bike shenanigans. Also, any tips on the cheapest place to buy?

Very well. Had mine around 1.5 years and gone through 3 sets of cleats. Daily use and the shoes still going strong.
Points to take note of though. I use a brake and skid mostly when I fancy it as opposed to 24/7. It would be better if you were ambidextrous to even out the stress on the plastic shoe base.
They are casual shoes, which means the rubber sole will wear out after time; that means your cleats will wear out quicker too.
That shouldn't be a deterrent though. They are good shoes. I'd buy them again with no hesitation. Make sure to buy them half a size smaller than what you normally wear.
