Use a damn tent. I had this end-of-July crazy storm in the Alpes that wrecked a family's big ass tent so they had to put their kids in the car while cleaning the mess and book a hotel. I was safe in my 1p tent but I wouldn't have been with a bivvy 'n tarp.
