  • It's nice, but a bit pricey. The Rapha of bartape, if you will.

  • what forks are on that? I like it.

  • brakes are re-branded Tektros. Forks are some oldish cannondale cx carbon forks I resprayed.

the tape is indeed lush - good shock absorption, plenty of grip, and has the feeling that it won't wear out anytime soon

  • Still looking for a medium if anybody wants to sell, pm me.

  • And I'm keen on a large if anyone is thinking of selling. Bike or frame/forks.
Conversely, will I wait for the new?

I have some Nature Boy forks for sellz.

  • Stay classy...

  • you guys bike look pretty cool

  • What is that rack, and what is that rear hub, please?

my current one bike policy means that I keep on throwing money at this. updates include narrower wcs curve bars, lizard skin tape and new rims and tires.

    apologies for cell pics!

  • Jeez dude, give it a break! So I quoted something instead of replying below. Have you SERIOUSLY got nothing better to do with your time other than be an internet warrior and tell me off for quoting? Does it make you feel important?

  • Not the quoting, the position of your reply above the quoted section]

It's really fucking annoying and we don't need more people doing it.

  • Not the quoting, the position of your reply above the quoted section]

Seeing as it means that much to you, I shall endeavour not to do it again.

For some reason my brain thinks that the proper place for a reply is above the quote, not below it... go figure?!

  • hey people,

on a serious note, I have been trawling through the thread a bit and found that the wishbone stays on the current/old pompino are being termed "Dekerf stays".

I then googled dekerf and found that it's some sort of small company that makes high quality frames, and has moved into the custom frame business in recent years.

So - I'm a bit confused, what are those chainstays doing on a budget steel frame such as the pompino? And I can only assume that the stay design is under licence from dekerf and made by on-one? Although obviously they no longer wish to carry on with it, too expensive?

Either way, does anyone know more about this, can someone enlighten me? I get the feeling that I don't have the full picture...

    Cheers, Vlad

  • Progress on the new build ... at last :-)

That chainguard looks like a pratical addition to a pompino.
What is it and where did you get it from?

  • Vladimir in answer to your original question it's a Nexus 8 speed hub. The front rack was bought online from SJS cycles

Thanks for letting me know. How are you finding the Nexus 8 speed hub?
Is there any chance of some more detailed pictures please?
    Thanks.

  • pictures of what exactly? not much to show. the hub OLD had to be decreased to fit into the 120mm spacing. as for performance I love it - the ability to shift when stationary; shifting easily under load when ascending; wide enough ratio for all applications; no need to service anything, including the chain which stays remarkably clean once you remove the derailleur . the only downside is obviously the weight, but i've begrudingly come to terms with that

  • For some reason my brain thinks that the proper place for an answer is before the question

    Can you see it now?

  • You called? ;)
