    Mjuii/ pound land vista/asda process

  • Considering the film and processing, that's incredible.

  • I was very impressed with the quality , was expecting grainy pics and poor scans but am actually very pleased with everything I've got from asda and the pound land film is nice to just snap away on.

I think that might actually have been on the mju ii zoom but I forget.

  • Pound film+plus decent cheapo developing seems like a winner for snaps. It's always a bit gutting when you spunk cash on nice dev and scanning only to realise most of the film was drunken happy snaps. Seems a bit ridiculous.

  • Definitely, it means I always have a film compact in my pocket now. It's nice because every week I end up pleasantly surprised with something I took just because I could.

I need to get to eye culture in bethnal green because they're faster and there's no 7 mile ride up the a5 to get there, also £2 process only is just as affordable.

I've heard so much about cine film being worlds beyond available consumer films and this seems to confirm. Gonna try and get my hands on some for sure!!!

So is that c41 process motion picture film? Ie with an orange mask and no anti-halation layer you typically get with my film? Awesome if so!

  • Hmm just had a quick read. So it doesn't have an orange mask (great as easier to scan) and does have a remjet (anti-halation) layer but it is somehow removed for regular c41 rather than ec2n processing....

..coming to a photo shop near you in Berlin at the end of the month apparently..

  • Was gonna put a back order in but I got cold feet as it works out a tenner a roll all in.

  • Yea I saw this too.
Maybe some of you guys could pool together for an omnibus order.
I just checked, it's really expensive to send stuff to the UK - no cheaper than € 7,10
(and this is only insured up to € 50,- - up to € 100,- it's close to a tenner; what Impex are asking for...)

  • Was gonna put a back order in but I got cold feet as it works out a tenner a roll all in.

I was also going to order some. Could be cheaper to split postage cost?

  • Don't you need to use it with flash or lighting?

Also, was happy with this portrait.

    Haha - "Nailed it"

  • Just lost a GR1 by £2 at £102.....

  • D'oh!

  • You probably wouldn't have got it for £103 anyway*

*this is my consolidation when losing out on ebay

Ah so close, was is that silver one on eBay?

  • Don't you need to use it with flash or lighting?

Apparently it's made for artificial light.
Have been told not to 'mix light' though, like lamps AND daylight or lamps AND flash.

Went to that shop today, they have it avaiable there already, couldn't tell why it can't be ordered yet though.

I asked whether they got any feedback on it yet and the lady said "some people who tried one came back and bought ten more rolls".

  • Would love to try some of that, group order?

  • shame its only for 35mm

  • I would be in for group order if it's worth bothering, I've really been wanting to try this stuff since it seems like I only see daylight about once a month.

  • Ah so close, was is that silver one on eBay?

That's the one. Complete chance I noticed it.
Have you got yours up on there by any chance??

  • Nope, I've got mine in my pocket :)

I did the one with dodgy view finder on the bay though.

  • Portra is based on vision 3, insomuch as it uses three layers of varying iso emulsions, just tweaked to be easier to process. It's a cool idea to shoot with cine film but I bet it's not as good as portra.

  • Some more from Los Angeles: one from the Getty Center and the rest from Griffith Park Observatory, all XP2. I'm not over the moon with the scans.
