I'm always using it in the dark so I doubt it's that.

Really. Maybe it doesn't allow it in program mode though, the manual seems to contradict itself at one point, and program does limit the aperture to above f4 and I think the shutter speed at the upper end.

I read the manual a few times and gained nothing, I think it confused me more lol
