You will need to gain root access and install a super user app to allow other apps root access.

Clear the cache/data for the photos app?

Thanks Andy p. I've done a bit more googling and the apps I was thinking of don't do what I want anyway. All I really need is to mirror the screen from one device to another. Anyone have an app they use that they can recommend to do this?
Goggling says both devices support miracast which would be ideal but that doesn't seem to work...

I've disabled the Picasa Upload app which seems to have done it. I don't even have the proper Picasa app on my phone.

My Fairphone is being delivered tomorrow. Can't figure out, if I want to keep it or sell it on and get a Moto G instead...

tesco fucked up my delivery and they now can't find the phone although their records show it was delivered to the store... they are now out of stock. -

Moto X now out in blighty. But the pricing looks poor.
In the US it is $400, which if you add on 20% VAT to make it comparable to the UK pricing comes to ~£290. But the UK price is £380. Balls.

Hai internets - I need suggestions for a new phone please
I currently have a Galaxy Ace, which is painfully slow and in danger of accidentally hitting a wall soon.
Features that I would like:
- Rootable
- No more out of phone memory errors
- Dual sim is a nice-to-have
- Forward & backward facing cameras
- Unlocked
- Rootable

Stock answer would be a Nexus 4. Had mine for over a year and the apart from some minor niggles it's been a treat.

Does the Nexus 4 take dual sim?

Question to the androiders.
I've just bought a slimport adapter. It's pretty cool - it connects to my android device through the micro USB and then lets me connect an HDMI cable to a TV (I'm in a hotel with work) and displays whatever is on the device on the TV.
I have a nexus 4 and nexus 7 with me.
So what I wasn't to do is use the nexus 7 to control the nexus 4 or vice versa so I can have one wired to the TV and the other as the controller.
There are a couple of apps that seem to allow me to do this but require root access. I've never needed to root before so does anyone
A) know how I could do this without rooting
B) if I root what happens. Do I just effectively get administrator access? Is there a danger of me losing anything? Is there a simple guide to do this. I've googled briefly but don't want to install a custom ROM - just want to control one nexus device with another.Cheers.
If you are just looking at playing media then plex or xbmc might be a way of doing this. Full remote control for browsing or games is not a goer.

N5. No drug-dealer SIM option though I'm afraid.
- Rootable

Is it possible to spoof the sending address on an SMS message via an android app any more?
Thinking of using an SMS based payment system but worried about the security implications.

By an app through Google Play? Probably not.
But it's trivial.

There are a number of different apps offering the 'service' available on google play but they appear to require registration of your phone number with remote website that actually sends the eventual sms.
Wondering why this is required if the process is so trivial..?

Because people are lazy and will use someone's app rather than DIY it.

Got mine today. I'm no expert but very pleased so far.

Fairphone has all this, but you'll have to wait for the next batch - or get one from a kpn shop in NL
- Rootable

Hummm like how people say somthing is trivial but don't actually tell you how to do it?
Anywho it seems like it can't be done via an app as your network will always forward the originating telephone number.
What you need is an actual sms sending server.. hence the need for a third party service / unless anyone has one kicking about?

Hmm, it seems that there is an identifying advertising ID that is shared with apps so they can target advertising on your phone. You can opt out but the default seems to be opt-in.

Any one know of an app that will enable me to use my phone as microphone and send a signal via bluetooth to my Bluetooth speaker?
So I can amplify my acoustic guitar
My Xperia Z updated to Android 4.3 yesterday, now every time I open the photo album I get a permission request for google wanting to access Picasa Web Albums. I don't use Picasa and don't want to upload all my pictures to a cloud. Any way to stop the alert?
