The huge numbers of numpties;

the riders blocking the roads outside the pubs (even as early as Moreton);

the blocked road and footbridge at Sible Hedingham;

the dampness and freezing cold at the end;

all these things were almost enough to put me off doing it again.

Managing to make a later start to miss most of the crowd up the A104;

chatting to random folk along the way;

having a pint with Stedlocks at Finchingfield and watching the locals calling out the pothole;

sitting outside the Ship and chatting to Soul, Conker and Chainbreaker and others;

all these things make me think I ought to do it again.

'Never again, see you next year' is this ride's motto....

Sounds fun, plus I now have 2 years worth of Christmas extra weight to get rid of, in.
Plus my in-laws live close by so they can pick me up and nurse me to health with m-i-l's awesome coffee cake

Oh, and another reason for not doing it was the dreadful neck pain from riding with my bars too low, and the dreadful knee pain from having hammered every tiny incline just that little bit too hard. Might ride the yellow monster this year - fat tyres, nitto promenade bars, 20 spare gears...

That was the big downer for me too. Firstly did not get on a coach until 11ish, and then was delayed waiting for the bikes in London.

I am thinking of staying in a hotel in Ipswich and training it back monday afternoon.

For those who are complaining about the journey home, hit the beach, turn around and ride to Ipswich. I was on the first train home. I had a nice sleep and was in a warm bath by 9.30AM...

But you've made a noob error by committing to ride back this early in the year, so how can we take your advice seriously? :P

I wouldn't do it again just to ride to the beach as the novelty has worn off now. It's ride back or nothing for me.
