Sounds like the SLR is the right size, yet the wrong shape. I'm not really sold on the voodoo of cut-outs. If it were me I'd look for a saddle with the same effective width, but with a different shape.
Spent 60mins on the turbo with the Smud under me last night. I find everything uncomfortable on the turbo usually. Saddles, shoes, gloves, the angle of my hoods... everything. But the saddle just kinda disappeared. The idea of riding 5 hour sportives on a stiff plan carbon saddle might seem odd. But I havent been happier.
