yeah there's the other thing, trying to ride with local roadies, i'm constantly out pacing them on climbs, recovering on flats and struggling to keep up as i'm out of breath, the decents i usually lose them or back down as i know i may not stop in time.

but enjoyable? this is why i brung this up...

This is exactly why a road bike would be good.

how was the rest of the ride?
Good fun, not as fast as usual but still not too slow, was taking some guys on fixed that hadn't done a ride that big before.

I can't do gears, I'm incapeable. lots of coasting, crunching noises and looking down at the derailer wondering how the hell I get it to work how its supposed to.

Me neither but I'm sure I'd get used to it.
