I took a stroll from the East side Ostkreutz station, though an urban area, to the East Side Gallery of art on the former Berlin Wall. From there I headed towards the TV tower and 'Unter Den Linden' a main road that takes you to the Brandenburg Tor, Bundestag / Reichstag and then south to the Holocaust Memorial which is well worth visiting. Then a further stroll took me to Checkpoint Charlie (museum though I didn't visit) and that was me done.
That was a fair old walk for my buggered knees, I mistook ostkreutz (station) for ostbahnhof (station) so it's my own silly fault. I bought a map at the airport which was vital for the first section of my exploratory trundle
