Hi guys, I changed many things on my salmon to make it more comfy to ride, powerfull brakes (mavic ssc), double crankset ( the triple TA cyclotouriste that was on it broke), 13-34 cassette, c-record ergos with 8 spd campy derailleur and open pro ws with 4 seasons tyres.
Can't wait to mount the berthoud front bag to go riding in la vallée de chevreuse...

That was my original plan however after test fitting the wheels of my track bike its clear that there is no where near enough clearance for even 28C and mudguards.
Given I want to run probably 32 or 35C 650B is the way to go I reckon.
Must be not as old as I thought.

Hi all,
This is my new project:
Groupset will be campy chorus 11.
Wheels will be with silver hubs (or black campy record) not decided yet, silver spokes, black rims, black tubulars. I'm looking for campy omega V, but if I don't find any, I shall use classic box section.
Stem will be -17 degrees, or quill, maybe silver,
Seatpost silver or white.
White saddle and bar tape, maybe with some red details.I would appreciate your suggestions and comments.
There is some significant progress in my new project lately.
Tubes are going to be black/black. I think black/skin do not match that well
Still can't deside about cockpit saddle and seatpost. My thought is black seatpost, white saddle, black stem and bars, white tape.
Any suggestions are welcome. -

I thought the black/skin match very well.

So, converting an old road frame to a 650b town bike. What are my options for reasonably easy to obtain 650b rim?
As far as I can see the option are velo orange diagonales however the seam weld looks dodgy in the pic on the website or pacenti pl23 which are not cheap!
Any other suggestions would be appreciated
I've got a pair of the VOs here to build up next week. Running a finger over the weld it feels very good. The rims are polished rather than machined so they just look different. I don't expect this affects them functionally at all, but can't be sure.
The Pacenti rims in stock currently are more fragile. Just Riding Along are expecting version 2 of those rims in a couple of weeks.

I have the VO as a temporary replacement due to the rear PL23 cracking under normal tension because of the flange spacing and offset of the modern hubs (1st version, it even made it in Bicycle Quarterly).
Diagonales rims is pretty strong, had done thousand of miles with it and it's still perfect (largely due to a decent wheel build really).

Exactly, the polished rims made it look worse than it is.
Will get the second version of the Pacenti soon to replaced the mix rims I'm currently running (worn-out V1 Pacenti PL23 FF and VO Diagonale FR)

Does anyone have an idea of how much a 48t sugino zen chainring weighs? Trying to decide between rotor and zen for my rotor cranks. Zen wins in aesthetics but I suspect rotor will win in terms of weenieness which is what Im going for here.

My 51t black weighed 135g, 5 grams more than my 44rn 49t.
-
• #87163
If you're really a proper weight weenie, you'll get a Fibrelyte, should be around 65g for a 48T×⅛"×144mm PCD
My Stronglight 48T is 100g for 130mm PCD, the 144mm PCD version would obviously be lighter

Miche advanced 48t are +/- 90g
possibly less durable than fibrelyte though.

That's explained in the build thread.

Does that thread also explain jokes?

Thanks TM, figured the zen would be a bit heavier.
Tester, how durable would a fyberlyte be? Not sure why but I dont think Id be all the confident having a cf chainring if Im fitting brakless

I do not say black/skin is bad either. But I like all black much better. Actually I'm obsessed with these wheels and bike; http://www.studiobrisant.com/fahrrae...bile/index.htm
I cannot decide whether white (with a little red) saddle and bar tape suits it better though. That is a local shop in Athens Greece; http://48x17.com/en/about/

What is the difference between Dodici Gara MMXII and Dodici Gara other then dropouts?
from their website:
We have developed this new GARA frame (MMXII) to satisfy the request of people that dont want to wait up to 8 weeks for a custom made frame (eg Gara). We have those frames in stock, ready to be shipped, so you want wait to much to get them! -

Off topic, but has anyone got an old Shimano FC-6207 (600 EX) 170mm rh crank/crankset going? A friend has stripped his and he will end up going into BLB if i dont source one soonish.
Come and say hello in the Look thread
