Rubix Pubes 5 - 4 Clerks (scorers above in Jackie's post)
This was a tight, scrappy game from the first to last minute with the odd sweet play that would spark it into life like a brief crowbanger before the scrappy normality resumed, settling over the court like a low-lying grey cloud.
I would probably place part of the blame for this on the poor quality of the Newington court which played its part in breaking up the play with annoying bobbles off uneven parts of the court just as the crucial pass or shot were about to be played. The small size of the court was also a culprit, resulting in little to no margin for error on any passes which was probably why so few were played.
Both teams started conservatively, with Clerks' strong defensive work breaking down some great plays from Antonio and Dave. After a while Dave slotted a couple of good individual goals and Clerks finally replied with a nice move, teeing up Felix to make it 2-1 at the end of the Chukker.
The second chukker was much the same, except for the emergence of Antonio as the game's most dominant player. He controlled the play and Clerks really struggled to handle him but despite having alot of possession and chances, he ended the game without a goal to his name. Clerks took the lead briefly with two goals against the run of play before Daverage restored Rubix Pubes' lead.
The third chukker was yet more of the same, with Antonio continuing to miss chance after chance and Agata adding a 5th for Pubes while Clerks clicked into gear again to produce the play of the match to yet again tee up Felix to make the finish tense. Pubes held on for a deserved win, Clerks played a great defensive game but were unable to use the ball effectively enough when they gained possesion. Despite Antonios dominant individual play, the crucial goals all came from Dave who supported Antonio well so dt gets MVP.

Thanks for the games Hemlock, and thanks refs! It was nice to have a few folk there to watch and heckle.
I'd like to say it was an unalloyed pleasure, but I was disappointed by the way you guys were able to overwhelm us so completely (10 - 0!) in the 2nd chukker, and then were easily able to match our goal count in the 3rd. Thanks to all the refs, and nice to have such a vocal crowd.

Crowbangers v Acid Trip
12 - 2
This is another game where the score doesn't do justice to the game. Crowbangers definitely had possession of the ball more than Acid Trip, but the Trippers had a number of good drives and shots that were close. Still, at the end of the day, the Bangers had more shots and a higher conversion rate. They clearly held the game but one could easily have imagined a closer score. Still, it should also be noted that I was very impressed with Bangers' passing. These guys are not necessarily known for their passing, but they were putting some nice plays together and it's a well-deserved win.
The first chukker was 4-1, so only a 3 point difference. The second chukker was 3-0, so again quite close. But during the second chukker the Bangers started to work on their positioning a lot more. They did a lot of blocking Hooks-style, taking people out of play on their drives. By the third game, with the Trippers probably getting fatigued in their sixth chukker of the day, Bangers worked their blocking and passing game well and came away 5-1.

Thanks for the write up Chukker, also thanks for reffing and thanks to the refs in our first fixture.
It was a tiring and not too goal filled day for us but it was fun and it's all good practice.
Awesome, thanks Ed.
