Got any evidence for that? To me it seems that the pressure on the lever bracket is unchanged, but you mess up the flow approaching the base bar. Also, you end up with a brake you can't use, and running into the side of a car which pulls out in front of you is a less attractive idea to me than saving 1s in a 50 mile TT, which is likely the order of gain to be had, if any.
