Generally road lights are different to MTB ones (beam and brightness).
I have used the exposure maxx d as a bar light and either a diablo or joystick as helmet light for off-roading. Whereas I use the diablo on my handlebars and a joystick as a head lamp on the road.
Have just been given a Troutie spider eye light for off-roading and given its design probably won't need another light to augment it. Chris has made mine with a low (by his standards) setting for use on roads but I'd only use it briefly for this purpose (connecting between trails) as it is still stupidly bright.
Exposure lights or Troutie.
