Don't be so pedantic ed. Different people have different needs and time moves on in terms of technology. What had to be considered as a necessity is now optional. Technological development when it comes to cameras used to be left to those with money to spend, yes, it did. Now it is accessible to everyone. If people can invest long term on a camera that will make their hobby/job easier, then why not. If we all go by your rule, we'd all be using a compact camera.
