  • not my intention, was just asking because it irked me.

  • You've been to China and seen it was made with robot?

Actually yes, I've been to china several times concerning bike production. I sell Kickbikes(or Footbikes) in cooperation with Finnish kickbike designer Hannu Vieriko.
And Dolan welds looks exactly like robot welds should look like.

any particular reason as to why you put so much emphasis on the word welding? last time i checked it meant precisely what my critique is about.

Bad look welds was well known problem of ingria frames, now they look more acceptable :)

Personnally I think that it looks so bad because the welder tries too hard to leave no caverns, but it's only my thoughts.

  • now they look more acceptable

    wut?

Take a closer look. This one was bad, now more acceptable. :)

Owner of this Ingria frame had an accident with a car. bike was totally crushed and he was badly damaged.
He bought Melec after. But it was crashed in an accident too.

  • ok, so the frames compared here are sort of on the same level qualitywise, they should be priced alike. and i doubt mielec charged 500€ for the frame you posted.

  • It's like learning how to make a dovetail joint and then selling chests of drawers a week later. They may work but they won't be pretty and no one should have to pay a hefty markup. Starting a framebuilding company implies an artisanal level of craftsmanship and doing so with an apprectice level of skill is obnoxious. Bike Mielec is definitely an exception to this but as has been said before the price reflects that.

  • Dale is nice from the top tube down...

    Also...

    Forcing rat, surely = HHSB?

  • The INGRIA frame just looks lazy as fuck, paying that much for a frame you'd expect THE WELDER to at least take a file to the welds and clean them up...

Some of the welds look like he's thrown the weld at the joint from across the room. Really fucking poor work.

To give perspective, TP88 paid about the same for his Low// (pre-hipster-tax-inflation...) You couldn't even compare the 2 frames.

If I were EATSHIT, I'd demand a 75-80% refund, and either ride the frame as is, or strip it, inspect it and re-finish the welds either myself, or find a builder that works with alu... Get it re-powder coated and enjoy it.

  • he is actually selling the frame on Facebook

What TM said. On top of the fact I got a really nice paint job, smooth welds and the new drops outs for free which they now charge a further hipster tax.

Tilky i'm not trying to give you a hard time. I just find it hard to legitimise that kind of money for that kind of poor quality.

I suppose in hindsight Tilky has pointed out further evidence of the welds prior to purchase so in some cases it's not like Ingra have falsely advertised?

  • mielec welds:

    low// welds:

  • Actually not, I just know the guy who sell this frames, but I never seen THE WELDER!
I'm just a bit ashamed with this sittuation, concerning this is frame from my native city.

    since you know the guys...
why dont you just tell ingria team that this starts to grow a serious image problem for their company.
the problem is poor communikation and a total ignorance of customer service.
they should fix this issue as fast as possible before this grows so big that they wont sell no frames no more

  • At no point, looking at the above photos from their website , would I expect this...

    Although...

Looking at that, I wouldn't be worried about the frame failing...

  • all these shite alu builders can >>>>

    Dodici4lyf...welds are smoooth

    After reading this...

    http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us/support/welding-solutions/pages/aluminum-faqs-detail.aspx

I wouldn't be convinced the welds are that strong...I googled it because I remembered something from my apprenticeship about Ali needing to be pampered when welded. The possible lack of pre heat might also explain the twisting of the frame tubes.

Not only I but many other people in Russian community told them many times that it's the main Ingria problem. And they need to fix it.

I write here because I feel ashamed for Ingria, and I don't understand why they didn't make their best for the export frame to look like it should.
Personally I think frame itself is really not bad... But this welds...

I hope EATSHIT will resolve this problem with Ingria by themselvs.

  • made in Russia

  • Sort out everything north of the top tube and I'd take it.

  • FYI

    http://tritonbikes.com/triton-coupled-track-bike-hardcore-edition/

Iv followed triton for years, nearly ordered a titanium biketrial frame off them years ago (that was their main market back then) since then they have been making more mtb, road and track frames.
next custom frame i buy will be a ti triton track frame, if pricing is anything like it was when i emailed dmitri a few years ago, then they are a serious bargain too.
sounds like a plug aha, it isnt
