With all due respect to mackay he hasn't achieved much and found himself in a position most managers do just not publicly. He did a good job but let's not get carried away with sanctimonious bollox just because it's Xmas time. The same shit happens year in year out in football and people still sound surprised.

Every time a manager is treated unfairly, football fans speak out.

The same when di Matteo was sacked, when Benitez was mindlessly attacked by Chelsea fans, when Roy Keane was given positions of responsibility which were clearly far beyond his capabilities.

You're right, it's not a unique situation, but it is part of the decay of modern football which we're quite right to be moaning about often.
