Hmm, I dont know how much did the dropouts (lauble fichter from germany) add to the cost. I'd assume they are a bit cheaper than paragon as they are from europe.
I picked up zona just because he suggested it :-) Supposed to be relatively light, sturdy & reliable.
There is clearance for 45mm in the rear and 48mm in the front (enve tapered cross fork). Chainstay lenght is 415 at the minimum. 1cm shorter than modern crossbikes, just to make it a bit more agile for skinny tire rides.
btw orlowski does his own headtubes, but does 44mm not tapered at the moment
Thanks, that clears things up somewhat, will bear those dropouts in mind, they look alright.
I know Psee said the guy he spoke to at Rychtarski had limited english, but how good was the english of the guys you spoke to at Orlowski (if you spoke english)?
I'll also be using a CX fork, and was thinking of shorter 420-415mm stays meself, but the sliding dropouts would work a lot better.
I know that both Dedacciai and Columbus both do integrated 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" tapered head tubes and bearing cups, so will see if that's possible or cost worthy, but it is just down to personal preference.
Will be very interested to see how much the frame weighs when you get it, so please check! ;)
