Because to compete properly in Europe and the PL you need a squad of 25 genuine 1st team players. The only way that a team can afford this, and to attract sufficient top players to be make a genuinely classy 25 man squad, is to be in the CL. And not only that but to be in the CL year in year out.

I know and agree. Unfortunately, the current climate is what it is, and if Newcastle can only afford a good premier league season one year, and then a bad one to follow with the addition of some european football then fuck it. We're not going to win the league, nor get into the champions league, therefore our manager should shut the fuck up and continue to achieve what is possible, rather than moaning about it.
