• After a rather busy period of doing a lot of other things, I managed to get out into the Peaks for the first time in ages today. Very windy but wonderful. Also my first time out since bumping up from 42x17 to 42x16 so a little trepedatious about how it was going to go.

Headed up Rivelin and over Moscar Top to Ladybower before dropping into the Hope Valley and into Hathersage for a spot of lunch in Outside. Was just locking up the bikes when one of their staff came and told us to bring them inside and held open the door for us. After lunch we started headed home by riding up Surprise View but after Fox House we decided it was too nice a day to head back that early so we dropped down through Froggat to Calver and came through Baslow and up to Owler Bar while the sun was still shining. Really please to get a nice little ride in without thinking about targets and goals and stuff, just pleasant cycling.

However, I do have some targets to focus on for this year and to help me train I've devised the FoxClover Fixed Wheel Challenge. Basic premise is to ride up to Fox House from Sheffield, drop down into Hathersage and climb back up again, descend through Nether Padley to Grindleford and climb back up again and finally descend through Froggat to Calver and climb back up again. The aim is to do it all within the Audax standard minimum speed of 15kmph.

    Route is here http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/foxclover-fwc

    42km - 1500m climbing.

Will be giving that a go after Christmas.

If you feel inclined to give it at go, post your results here.
