Isn't this a never ending debate about dry vs wet? With dry food I was advised to ensure the kitty is drinking enough water. I give her highness a mixture of dry and wet. I give her a pouch of wet in the morning and a pouch for the evening, and I have a bowl of dry food always available for her. This is purely because she is only young and want to eat whenever she want to. She did eat everything initially and gained a bit of weight, but the vet said it was due to the fact that she was a stray and will want to eat as much as she can whenever food is available, she has calmed down completely now.
I have to admit though I have wasted quite a few pounds on wet food because some days she just doesn't fancy the wet stuff, but I give it anyway, I was also advised wet food should be dispose of after a couples of hours of opening and that's what I do, which is more important I have a bowl of dry available as she tends to eat small amount throughout the day.
