Hello! I've recently started building up a tandem to come and join the fun. I'm planning to us it as a tourer.

We spent a couple of days over the new year investigating tandems to replace our aged and too small Dawes.
Went to The Tandem Shop in Shropshire to try the Co-Motion ones, then JD Tandems in Yorkshire.
The Co-motion steel ones are lovely, but JD do Orbit (made by Bob Jackson) which we can have pretty much custom as they're all made to order. They all ride SO differently to our old one - a complete transformation! They actually feel like riding a normal (if rather long) bike... And we can have S+S couplers to split it down for car/train/flying.

Rob at the Tandem Shop also let us take his full carbon race tandem out for a ride...OMG it's incredible! If only funds and space allowed that and the tourer!

Orbit (BJ) ordered! Should be here in time for Ride 100.... Now to decide on the colour......

Since this got bumped back to the top I'll use it as an excuse to get a picture of mine up! We finally loaded up and took it to Scotland.

Scary first day - the old steel frame is flexy as hell! Got used to it after a while though.

This is our mercian. Had a quick 20 on it this evening ffffreezing. Doing a charity ride to Belgium on it in May. We bought it from a lovely old couple in Chelmsford.

Need to make a trip to vaz and chat to jim about some wheels, then I'm in...

Our new one - part-funded by wedding gifts from families etc.

Unlike the old one, this one fits us, which is a major improvement (despite this we've done a couple of good longish tours on the old one).

We also wanted something that can go on planes easily.

It's only had a couple of short trips so far - but we've plenty planned in the future now.

Almost done... But we'll have zero time to go on silly forum tandem ride until we return. If anyone's up for one in September (assuming the bike lasts that long) then we'll be in.
