Originally posted in FBNPNA, but really it belongs here I think. Proving great fun to ride, fits the current theme of knobbly tyres too.

I think the owner needs a new camera though...

My daily ride/commuter is now in (almost - still can't find a mudguard that suits a 650 front, any ideas?) full winter mode and looking rattier (rustier) by the day.
Not that this picture I took earlier really shows that, now that I look at it properly. Stupid filters...

It is, at least, grubby, however. Which is basically the same thing as ratty, as we all know...

^^^ You seem to require a fender that suits a 700 too.

It's just mounted too high because of the wishbone...

Zefal sheild? as you can pull in and trim down the front for the smaller front wheel.

How do you keep chain tension with road drop outs?

How do you keep chain tension with road drop outs?
White Industries' brilliant 'fits-any-dropout' ENO hub. Beautiful things...
Before that - magic gear.

That would need explaining to me but I'll just take it for granted for now haha!
Cheers for the info! -

Magic gear basically means finding the exact gearing that fits the rear snug in the dropouts. It takes a little fiddling - and often a half-link of chain thrown in too, but it does work. When the chain stretches out a bit, you can end up with a little slack, but usually pretty OK. You can always take the half link back out after a while. Or, new chain...
The hub is a bit more complicated - basically it has an off-centre axle that can be turned/swivelled in the frame until the desired tension is achieved. Simple, effective and awesome. This is probably a clearer explanation - White Industries ENO hub - YouTube

But then the price of that, you could just get something with track drop outs, only see it useful for mtb fixed conversions.

So you're baisically saying expensive hubs aren't worth it then?
These are cheaper than any number of road hubs and about £15 more than Dura Ace NJS hubs, which any number of people are happy to recommend...
In this instance, the quality of the hub, bearings, etc. is outstanding, it also happens to allow you to run a single gear on any frame.
I see the point you're trying to make, but it's kind of invalid if you ask me...

Ahh I see, nice idea that hub. Looks to work really well!
Awesome -
• #8124
using it on a shitty conversion that already has a half link, waste of money, but of course it has its uses, but the real solution is just get a frame with track ends.

I'll assume you're talking about the bike in the video - but what would you expect from Road.cc... ;)
And, as I just said, the real solution is get whatever the hell you want to ride and make it work for you. Not limit yourself to track frames/geometry.
I am tempted to get this.
