  • Maybe. Some 3/32" rings and sprockets are thin enough, to work with 9/10 speed chain, some aren't. It's a bit late to be asking after you've bought it.

    Cheers T-dog.

  • Sending flowers to northern Germany, any tips for local/organic florists that have web-based delivery options?

    Interflora are everywhere aren't they?

  • We've just switched to BT Infinity- overall it's much faster but I can't get a decent connection in my room in the back of the house. Moving the router would be a hassle, so what are my options?
What are those plug-in Wifi boosters like? Any other options?

Have you removed any obstructions so it's as clear line of sight as possible?

Are you operating on 2.4 or 5Ghz?

Have you used something like SSIDr to find out if there's a lot of traffic on the channel you are using?

    http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

  • SSIDr found all the houses within distance were using the same channel.

  • Change the channel! boom tish

  • Gum disease. Buy some Corsodyl. Go and see a hygienist.

Boshed the Corsodyl last night and this morning, going to ring up for an appointment today. In case anyone wanted the gory details, they bled from about 16:30 until about 21:00. It was fucking horrible.

  • Anyone know a rough price for a 853 frame by a london frame builder?

  • £853?

Speak to Ted James, when I spoke to him, his prices were exceptionally reasonable and he is a true gent and craftsman.

  • Around £900-1300 would be my guest, it depend on the framebuilder entirely on their level of skill and experience.

  • Thanks.

  • Say I had new electricity meter installed on the 28th of Nov and now it reads 365 (was 0) where can I find out how much that is costing or whatever as I dont have an online account with them and cant be arsed holding for an hour.

  • ^ affirmative if all ten speed

  • Say I had new electricity meter installed on the 28th of Nov and now it reads 365 (was 0) where can I find out how much that is costing or whatever as I dont have an online account with them and cant be arsed holding for an hour.

An old bill will tell you the price per unit or kWh.

That's a previous bill from the company, not a policeman.

  • Failing that, just go online and see what sort of tarrif your energy company offers. If you have held your account for more than a year without having it reviewed you are likely to be on a higher tarrif and should consider switching accounts.

365kwh for a couple of weeks seems like high usage though. I would expect in the region of 180-200 for that period of time unless you're on electric heating.

  • Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed shifters with Veloce drivetrain, should work fine in theory, right?

    .

  • Is it possible to get the selected attribute in an excel pivot slicer to also be a value in a specified cell?

  • MS Excel / VBA help thread

Although it's not really clear what you're asking.

  • What are a good set of tyres to keep in reserve if the weather starts to turn icy/snowy any time in the next few months?

Riding fixed, max clearance is really 30mm for slight knobblies (without guards).

Knowing that without going down the studded route, or getting another bike (too poor) you can't guarantee too much, what's the best tyre to keep me rolling?

Again I'm poor, so <= £20ish per tyre, ideally.

    Schwalbe CX Pros any good?

  • Bring Me My Fix mentioned that his CX tyres outperformed his studded ones in anything but deep(ish) snow I think, so whatever he was using would be my recommendation.

  • Even on ice?

  • Ed, if the Chorus and Veloce are both 10 speed then it will work. As long as the shifters and the cassette match you're snorted.

  • Placed order for the Chorus, cheerio, thought that would be the case.

  • Has anyone tried making some diy ice tyres with a knife and a riveter?

  • Cheers, yeah I figure it's the ice that'll be the worry sans studs (which I couldn't really be arsed with, unless I move up north one day).

Salt shaker on the end of a stick in front of bike?

  • Isn't the problem with ice-tyres that they only really work on ice and are really slippy on tarmac...
i.e. how often do you go out for a ride just on ice in this country - mostly its damp tarmac with some patches of ice...
