I'm leaning towards TW2's suggestions.
Don't lean!

From my physics I know that a charger with the same voltage but higher current will mean a lower resistance. So I can safely replace one charger with another if the only difference is a higher current. Am I right? Will my laptop blow up, my house catch fire and my family all die?

My mouth has been bleeding from I don't know where for about an hour and a half now. Nothing hurts, I can't feel any injuries, but it won't stop bleeding. What does this mean? Are my teeth about to fall out?

Mouth period. You'll die shortly

Increased charging current -> increased heating in battery -> generally viewed as a bad thing unless using a peak detection charger (unlikely with a laptop)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_787_Dreamliner_battery_problems suggests yes, your laptop may blow up, house catch fire etc.

I don't know what I was expecting.
Expert medical advice from LFGSS, not an unrealistic expectation, all things considered.

sparky has had a prang, can someone help him?

^^^ cheers

I'd say HTFU and some nice Assos cream for the tingly effect.

That won't help Sparky.

We've just switched to BT Infinity- overall it's much faster but I can't get a decent connection in my room in the back of the house. Moving the router would be a hassle, so what are my options?
What are those plug-in Wifi boosters like? Any other options? -

But if he's just buying a laptop power supply, one with the same voltage but more current will be fine. All the sophisticated charging circuitry will be built into the laptop and/or the battery pack.

I've already bought it. Will arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens. Best case scenario my laptop charges faster. My theory is that either that will happen or it will just work normally. I had really already made my mind up as I come from a physicsy background but wanted someone to rubber stamp my decision so I have someone to blame should it all go pear shaped.

I've just bought a 3/32'' Chain ring. Will it work with my 10 speed chain??

I've already bought it...
I'd worry that the new higher current charger would change things from just within spec. to exceeding specifications regarding heat dissipation, but then my background is more engineering than science.
I'd also be more than happy if you post tomorrow to say it works fine!

Maybe. Some 3/32" rings and sprockets are thin enough, to work with 9/10 speed chain, some aren't. It's a bit late to be asking after you've bought it.

Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed shifters with Veloce drivetrain, should work fine in theory, right?

Gum disease. Buy some Corsodyl. Go and see a hygienist.

Any recommendations for a good linux distro? Planning on running it in a VM and familiarising myself with the terminal.
Thinking Linux mint unless there are better suggestions out there?
They'll be compatible. Gusset is distributed by ID which says fix-ts have been discontinued. I have some in 170 which I was going to stick on something when I find an axle for cheap/free. I know someone who did have some 165 going spare but I don't know if they've got rid or not, I could find out but it might be easier for you to replace yours with whatever 19mm 48spline cranks take your fancy.
