Always thought close clearances can potentially prevent punctures.

These crowns can be crazy for clearance.
I have one on my wife:
..which I have ridden on the street without any worry. Straight fork, though.
Can't say I'd brave the same clearance with curved blades!I have this crown with the same clearance on my Sancineto road bike. Pain in the ass when leaves get stuck.
Anybody knows name of this crown?

And negaatio, I love the gumwalls on yours, would just like some skid resistant options...
Paselas are touring tyres. They are just fine for skidding.

Is it just me that thinks that super tight clearance looks shit in the majority of cases?
It's okay if you have a crown that matches the profile of the tyre (like that curvy chrome one above), or a flat crown with a cut out that matches the tyre, but with a mismatched curve or a flat brake bridge, it just looks either thrown together from ill-suited, mismatched parts or a badly designed frame. (Like that Even(?) or purple/white thing above).

Agreed, this is a prime example.
Probably mainly to do with the uber close clearance up top but buckets of clearance around the sides

it's only destroying the paint or causes trouble if the wheel is slightly bended.

With the original steel forks on the Donohue, the tyre would rub when climbing/sprinting... I do find tight clearances aesthetically pleasing, but I prefer a balance between aesthetics and functionability...
