Mister sausage fingers. But yep with you on the dildo basses as a rule. Bork! That clown ^ has a lot to anser for quite frankly, my mate (and current upright player) bought two five string Warwicks in the early 00s on the back of a teenage muso-crush on Zender and has only just in the last couple of years realised the error of his ways and come over to the p-bass and upright side of the tracks.
Ah man, I still love Zender's playing - have done since I was about 15... I think he played a few of the tunes on the earlier Jamiroquai albums on P and J basses, but was endorsed by Warwick so didn't use the Fender's live.
Warwicks definitely aren't the basses for me though. I'm happy with my DeArmond, Iceni zootbass fretless 5 (bought 2nd hand, the body was a prototype for a John Giblin signature bass) and my old '70s jap P bass copy. Oh and my upright. Get more gigs on upright than anything else at the mo', but would love to get in a band like this and just let loose with disgusting grooves:
