The new ones for £200 are usually quite shit, you've got to get the price that way somehow and it's usually a combination of cheap, heavy frame and then crappy parts, the crappy parts are the worse bit as they can go wrong. You'll get a lot more value getting something second hand, for £200 you'll hopefully be getting a £400 or more new bike so the parts will likely be low end but not the kind of shit that are solely chosen to keep prices down.
