and thanks tester i had no idea there was so much in flat bar brake levers, im looking to use over sized riser bars eventually as i have an oversized stem and i like the look of the oversized bars (does this mean that they don't all taper down to the same size?)

They all taper to 22.2mm where the levers fit, as noted above the amount you can cut off before running out of 22.2 section varies.
