I bought 2 T3s about 4 months ago and both are fine! What are you doing to the poor little buggers?
-
• #228
Overtightening perhaps? Tank cracker citrus / menthol flavour juice? I'm stumped.
-
• #229
No, the glue joint between the screw fixing and polycarbonate shell seems to be a weak point.
I've had two of them bugger up. One got repaired by superglue , the other kept leaking.
-
• #230
I see. Well the EvoD doesn't have that join I don't think, so might be worth a try.

- at least you don't look like you're sucking CP3O's cock.
Fuck thats me then....I haz zenesis mini and it really does look like a robo cock. Smokes like one too.

Bastard told me it was just a data transfer and I'd done it with a thumb drive before!
Cunt!

Got it working again... Maybe I was running it too hot... Meh...
RoboCock, here I come...

So far iClear survived without problems and only had to change the atomiser once.
Kanger Pro gives me burnt taste pretty quickly and washing won't help, so new atomiser very 10 days or so. The big washer inside was pretty much stretched after a week too and it gets caught into the tread every time I have to refill. Shit design.

I'm gonna try out the EVOD clearomiser, the Tabac BCC isn't very good...
In terms of resistance, what's the diff between 1.8 and 2.2?
Which one would work best on an eGo-T battery?
-
• #237
The eGo-T is rated at 3.7, but actually puts out more like 3.4 under load. To work out the wattage you'll get, divide the voltage squared by the resistance.
1.8
(3.4 x 3.4) / 1.8 = 6.42 watts2.2
(3.4 x 3.4) / 2.2 = 5.20 wattsIt's personal preference and all that, but I always found I wanted more from an eGo-T and the only way to do this is to use lower resistance coils. Once the original coils were dead, I would build my own at about 1.5 ohms, giving a bit more kick at the expense of battery life.

Missus has suggested getting a couple of these for her Dad and Bro who both smoke.
Is there a decent, robust unit that requires little maintenance?
They don't have a lot of cash and I can imagine any hindrance to using e-cigs will result in them going back to normal smokes which defeats the purpose.
Any suggestions? Also, any idea how many bottles of fluid you'd need for x amount of ciggies?
-
• #239
I guess it depends on budget, but I think a decent variable voltage battery (eGo Twist / Vision Spinner), with a cheaper and smaller backup for when the big one is charging is still the way to go for beginners. For the atomiser, genuine Kanger T3S from UKEcigStore / elsewhere (unless you are likely to do a TS on them). The EvoD might be a bit tougher to break, but I haven't actually tried one myself.
I used to smoke 15 to 20 a day and find I got through about 3ml to 5ml of 18mg strength eliquid per day on that sort of setup. It's more now I have more powerful devices, so I am buying 6mg strength.
The flavour and quality of the eliquid could make a big difference to a beginners success rate. The first stuff I got was foul and I still have both bottles. I like Halo Tribeca and so do most of the smokers I know that have tried mine. It's a really, really subjective thing though.

Thanks Butters, I'll pass this on.

Really good first impression of the EvoD, vapes really well and feels tough too... It's also very black, which is nice...
Let's hope I have more luck with this... ;)

Good to have a mod with variable voltage and wattage for puffing at home. Some fluids get burnt taste quicker than others. I like to be able to tune in exactly to match the liquid I'm smoking. Some honey/sweet ones don't need as much power.

Hippy - I'm not sure that you should 'force' these things on others. Its a choice the smoker makes - he/she doesn't want it made for them.
Stopping smoking, or even cutting back is something that takes guts and dedication, its not something to be taken lightly and its not a decision that someone else should make for you.
There are plenty of really good starter kits out there but unless someone actually has an interest in vaping then you are probably wasting your money.
If I bought you a CB radio/pair of shin pads/a frying pan/decorative crystal owl/new born kitten etc etc it doesn't translate that you'd actually get into it/them.
There are some great starter kits out there, maybe it would be better for your in laws if you did lots of research so you could extoll the benefits of vaping, get them interested and help them make their own decisions? Because its hellish confusing to the newbie vaper which can be very off putting.
Butters was a star when I asked for help, but I had to make my own decisions and mistakes before I started to understand what vaping is all about.
Hope that helps?

If you don't want to be told you can't buy any of this stuff, stick your name down here:

I'm not forcing anything. My gf wants to give them to her bro and Dad as a xmas gift that might encourage them to quit. It's up to them if they actually use them and/or stop smoking. But I will pass on your knowledge to her - she might reconsider her approach.

EvoD is great, no problems so far...
I think I'd like a bit more pull than I'm getting right now... Was out with Boagey after polo yesterday and he had two VERY serious battery/atomiser units... Bit jealous, very tempted to wade in and get one...
-
• #247
Just bought some replacement coil heads and saw this Pyrex glassomiser, gonna give that a go... The EvoD is great, I should've got some spare coil heads the last time as they do die pretty quickly...
Next step is gonna be buying my own wire and wicks...
-
• #248
Its definitely worth rebuilding your own heads. EvoD will probably need 2mm or 3mm silica wick and 0.2mm kanthal wire. Something like a 5 wrap should come out at maybe 1.6 ohms, which will work well on an ego battery.

I really challenged myself by trying to quit in combination with flying to Greece, the land of the cigarette.
So far, 12 days tobacco free, but been using a pretty shite E-Lite electronic cig... so far so good.

Unfortunately, nobody will be able to tell you what is best for you. Just make sure you get a decent variable voltage battery so you can vary how hard you drive whatever you decide to put on the end of it. Good ones are Joyetech Ego Twist and Vision Spinner, although others have had success with cheaper Ebay jobs. The bits that go on the end (cartos, clearomisers, etc) are pretty cheap (usually £5 to £10), so keep trying different ones. The Kanger T3S clearomiser is a good place to start. The Tabac BCC looks like a copy of the Kanger T3S.
Alongside finding your favourite hardware, you need to find your favourite juice. The Smoking have Foggy Dew - I tried the Honey Tobacco, which was nice. EEI reviewed a few of the other Foggy Dew juices a couple of pages back, so perhaps see if any of those sound like your thing. And they sell them in 10ml bottles so you only waste a few quid if you don't like it.
Hopefully this will help you through the jargon a bit:
**Clearomiser **- a transparent (usually) tank that has a string like wick inside dipping into the juice. In the middle of the unit, the string passes through a coil which does the vapourising. The good ones have replaceable coils as they do get clogged up after a week or two. They can be dry burned to get rid of the clogging - look on YouTube to see what I mean.
**Cartomiser **- a metal tube with cotton wool like material inside and a coil set into the cotton wool. The end bits that you find on supermarket ecigs are cartomisers (rubbish ones IMO). You can't dry burn or replace the coil in a cartomiser - you just throw it away and screw another one on. Look on YouTube for instructions on how to fill these.
Cartomiser Tank - A fairly large diameter transparent (usually) plastic tube which the cartomiser sits in. The carto will need to have a hole punched into it for the juice to get in. This makes no difference whatsoever to the performance of the carto - it just provides a ready supply of juice so you don't have to fill it up anywhere near as often.
Rebuildable Atomiser / RBA - You need to build your own wick from stainless steel mesh and wrap your own coil around it. The wick dips into a large tank of juice. I wouldn't worry about these until you have tried everything else, as getting the wick / coil right is tricky and greatly changes the way it performs.
Single / dual coil - You can get both clearomisers and cartomisers in single and dual coil. Theoretically, dual coil will produce more vapour and will be slightly warmer. In practice, this isn't really a reliable way to look at it as the quality of the design plays a bigger part.
Some good brands:
Joyetech
Kanger
Vision
Innokin
Boge
Smok / SmoktechFinally, UKEcigStore (http://www.ukecigstore.com/) have a store in Wembley which you can go into and have a better look at all this stuff. Might be worth a visit once you feel like you know roughly what hardware you are after. I would avoid their liquid though.
This is all excellent and helpful, thanks Ben...
Next step for me is a variable battery and a clearo etc...
So a pack and a half of fags then?
