@Dan, losing 3-0 to West Ham, know its a london derby and all, West Ham aren't doing well currently, was it embarrassing or the randomness of football?
If we play better against Man U, and get a result against Liverpool, then the brouhaha dies down, and we carry on until the next dip in form.
Season is a marathon, not a sprint and no team can escape from a few indifferent results, as a manager you've just got to make sure you don't let them snowball. Or let the media snowball you and your club so they can add grist to the media mill. It's just a story for them, and they will add as much pressure as they can to get the story they want. Which is right now:
AVB losing control of his players; making the same mistakes as he made at Chelsea; Spurs spent the money from Bale's transfer unwisely; and Levy was an idiot to appoint him in the first place.
The bookies odds, mean nothing in the great scheme of things.
What about all the talk about Moyes and Utd early in the season, or the mourinho buzz after their defeats. It'll pass as long as the results/performance improve. Its AVB's job to sort that out.. -

Looking through that list makes you realise how few places I have actually been to. Anyway, I get 10:
Bolton
Preston
Rotherham
Walsall
Tottenham
Upton Park
Man Utd
Charlton
West Brom
EvertonOf that lot - Upton Park is hallowed ground. Everton is quality as an away supporter. Special mention to West Brom - had some quality days there too.

It was an embarrassing defeat. There is nothing random about conceding 3 goals to opposition that poor - if it was 1, or even 2.. but 3? No.
The Newcastle defeat could possibly be chalked up to bad luck (personally I would say it was abysmal finishing that allowed Krul to look good - but the papers chose the easy 'super keeper' narrative). As could Chelsea, and Arsenal.. but when you start to put it all together it paints a different picture. That said, I am not in the "AVB out" group and never have been - I think he is about as good as we are going to get right now and getting rid will not help the club to progress at all.
I would also say that the bookies odds do mean something - these people make it their business to profit from sports so you can pretty much guarantee that if they are slashing odds it's because they've been tipped off by a decent source. If you look at the statistics - bookies are usually right.

also dan man city lost to Villa, who aren't currently setting the world on fire.
Man utd lost 4-1 to Man City, Chelsea lost 2-0 to Newcastle.Everyone is losing against everyone, Chris Hughton is on the bubble because Norwich concede 7, Alan Pardew is in the hot seat because Newcastle lose by 4. Just because a bookie takes bets on it, doesn't mean its going to pass. 'Arry was odds on to be the next england manager and then Hodgson takes the crown.

Surely Southampton? Have had a consistent academy for the last 20 years or so...
Shearer, Wallace brothers, le god, Kevin Phillips, bridge, Walcott, bale, chamberlain, blackstock, best, surman, lallana, ward-prowse, shaw, chambers....
Consistent stream and is more than self funding, even if some are championship quality.
That's one team then

Bravo Corny, that's about as disingenuous as its possible to be.
Yes football is football and yes, all the big teams you mention have had wobbles, but all of them have new (or new-old in mou) managers this season - none of whom spent as much as we did in the summer and none of whom, have managed to isolate themselves from the club, staff and team to the extent that AVB has. Look at Pellegrini, who has refused point blank to criticise his players for their away form - and compare that to AVB's pissing all over everyone else's sheets, and not taking the blame for any of it.
Fair enough, the Guardian article and others stink of a media agenda (thanks 'Arry) - but the facts remain that AVB hasn't done a very good job this season, or or off the field.

Corny is a romantic. Why use numbers and facts when you can paint
shitwater colours with flowery words? -

Corny is a romantic.
I can't remember who told me that his definition of foreplay was to say "brace yourself".
-
• #92866
That's a step in the right direction. Before it was 'amuse yourself with this dildo, I've just got to finish posting this essay on the football forum about European club formations'

that I've plagiarised. And thrown in awful affectations to show my creative side.

plagiarised? surely "taken inspiration from" is a more flowery term

Meanwhile, he hasn't yet been given the dreaded vote of confidence but he's not far off

Probably not.
With his fancy Brizzle accent, he'll show those London cock ponies.
