My favorite bike.
Raymond Clerc
Zeus,DA,Soma...I'm confused. The frame is aluminium or steel? It looks like an alu finish to me, but with steel tube size...
Very cool bike!

They do. But only through bank transfer (they're legit though).

Pretty sure that it'll work fine.
The issue is when you're using normal caliper/cantilever levers with v-brakes. V-brakes require more pull so caliper/cantilever levers don't pull enough which then gives you almost no braking until it locks up the brakes.
With a v-brake lever you're going to be pulling too much cable. Which just means your brakes are a bit more sensitive which you can adapt to.
What type of bike is it? If you're not willing to pay for a different lever then I assume it's not a performance issue so I'd just live with it.
I'm trying to get more brake power on m bodged together trike. The lever is a modified dual v brake lever, the calipers are dual pivots, I can't change this set up with out new wheels and disc brakes. I'm hoping to get some more lever pull as the moment it only moves about a cm. THis should give a bit more leverage to help squeeze the brakes against the rims. At the moment you really have to pull hard to stop due to the trike being so heavy.

1" copper pipe to mount a crown race, does that work?
-
• #85641
it has already been done 1000 times no ?
It's true, still look like le fric though. Did you polish the brakingsurface on those Cosmic's?

possibly, don't know, but I do know a hoover extension tube works perfectly, something like this

Much interesting, many thank yous!
Trying to shim a 26.2 to 26.8 almost did my head in today. Could not get it to work! Will have to go to the model train place and buy 0,3mm shim stock.

If it does, it means your crown race isn't fitted properly. There's a pretty big interference fit by design, so copper plumbing pipe is much too weak to set it properly. Also helps if the end of the pipe is truly square to set the race evenly. By the time you've got somebody with a lathe to square off the end of a piece of thick walled steel pipe and ream out the bore to clear the 26.4 or 27.0 collar on the steerer, you might as well have bought the right tool to start with.

I've got a length of plastic drainage pipe which works with 1 1/8" crown races, and with a joiner for the drainage pipe on the end it's the perfect size for 1 1/2" crown races. I've never had any issues getting crown races seated properly with it. Much as I like having the proper tools, the drainage pipe has proved itself up to being used in my hydraulic press to seat really reluctant crown races.
But 1" copper pipe is never going to work as it's not big enough- it needs to go round the steerer tube, and the fork crown, which is always going to be more than 1" in diameter.

Just tested Estonia/Lithuania/Russia and none works. So yeah, I thought about http://store.fixie-factory.com/en/ but as I need just one rim I'm not really ready yet to pay 30 euros for shipping. But after friend has money to get my old wheels it looks like it would be my best option.
I guess they would have optimised this while conceiving the brakes... But I'm mainly saying that because I'm lazy to experiment to be honnest / I can't be bothered re-doing a plate, it took me a bit of time to make this one already... But good idea, if I'm better equiped at some point to make such parts I'll give it a try...
