  • I must give her a call tonight!

  • But puff pastry is a no-go area?

    sniff

    Bro,

Puff pastry mince pies are for champs. 4 for £1 at Sainsburys, get the fuck in

  • Fucking heathens. Mince pies before December? The mincemeat isn't ripe yet ...

Cannot wait till the 1st.... Tradition, eh?

  • bring em on.

I plan to do the Festive Piehundred this year.

    i'd actually be impressed.

  • Ha the festive pie hundred! We've already been on it, not yet december, the shame!

My 4yo daughter enjoys doing pastry and we've made 96 so far, in normal and mini size.

If it is right there on the shelf, how can you wait? No-one would wait til easter to eat Creme eggs!

  • Bought some Co-Op pies due to this thread. They don't have any of that crazy drunken cream you lot invented so I might wait..

  • If it is right there on the shelf, how can you wait? No-one would wait til easter to eat Creme eggs!

Well 'screme' eggs were on sale in our local tesco up until this week so that's been keeping me going...
Self control... That first one is gonna be good.
Also supply is too easy, there's an aldi about 100m from the house... So worried that once I start....

  • I'm so looking forward to smashing several litres of clotted cream. When I go home for Crimbo. Proper west country stuff. Mince pies with clotted cream is a beautiful combination.

Started seeing scones in the bakerys up here. When I asked someone if you could get clotted cream, they had no idea what it was. Why bake scones if theres no clotted cream? Cnuts. Utter utter cnuts!

  • Clotted cream is for scones you heathen. Brandy butter you mean surely?

    Puff pastry? You mad?

Talking of Mum's mince pies, mine does mini ones but instead of a pastry top, does a shape (star or Christmas tree) of marzipan on top, leaving a bit of mincemeat exposed. It's looks awesome, and tastes 10% extra Christmassy.

  • I have some clotted cream ice cream, now thinking this would be awesome on hot mince pies (puff and basic)

  • Fuck it. I'm going to greggs today.

  • Clotted cream is for scones you heathen. Brandy butter you mean surely?

Drunk butter, drunk cream, I can't remember. Both!

You only die of hardened hardcore arteries once.

  • ok definitely getting marzipan for the next batch. Need to up stakes as I'm using bought mince meat due to forgetting to make it again. To bling up bought mincemeat, and some extra apple and booze as the mas produced stuff always scrimps on this to make it last longer.

Oh and clotted cream loses to brandy butter, or rum butter, or whiskey butter, or apple brandy butter, booze + butter + sugar.....

  • Bollocks, clotted cream on all the things. Me and the old man munch clotted cream and jam on toast for breakfast everyday over the Xmas period. Nom nom nom.

  • It's a shame but the old diabetes will be kicking in if I read this anymore and I'll probably end up losing a foot.

  • Speaking of mazipan. Made this over the weekend. Its basically baked rings of marzipan stacked and glued with icing.

  • Is that Tamazepam?

  • I have mixed experiances with Temazepam. I'm not convinced being drunk from the neck down is any better than just good old fashioned drunk. So no.

Saying that a weekend of peace with the kids dosed up on jellies. Does have it appeal.

  • Its actual marzipan, just corse, and baked. The crazy thing is the 18 separate rings that you bake it in. I spotted them on the way to the car. Bought them. Packed them in the boot. Then had a delayed fit of anger in the car. As the realiseation that they cost £50 settled in to mine denial riddled brain.

Less need to wee. Perfect for long haul flights and the associated experiments in cankle-growth.

    Want.

I'm guessing these won't survive Royal Mail too well though?

I struggled to combine the 2 anyway. You try saying tanqueray gin with no feeling or control over your tongue.

  • SF repped for Kransekake. Will be making that soon. If I can find the rings of course.

  • You can buy mine. Used once. £45 plus postage.

    No?

Did'nt think so. Idiots like that me are a rare breed.
