I'm happy RLJ's are being punished.. They do bring a lot of shit down on our shoulders but as it's been said above it only will fuel the debate that "we" bring it all on ourselves by running red lights despite TFL's own statistics that the large majority of cyclists don't RLJ and accidents/collisions aren't caused by RLJ.
The stats will say they fined "X" amount of cyclists. I very much doubt it will be balanced by stat "Y" of how many didn't RLJ.. Or indeed how many drivers ran reds..
le sigh

Tried flagging me down all the way out in Ilford, A406 junction with Romford road. Hadn't broken any laws, shouted back for him to go suck a fat one in anticipation of high vis/helmet bullshit.

A one day blitz is nothing more than a PR exercise. Unless plod is out there day after day enforcing the the law this is nothing more than a headline for the day.
They said increasing numbers until xmas.

Lots of police out this morning - one on a motorbike spotted someone RLJing outside the Oval and jumped the light (into oncoming traffic) to catch up with the guy. I'm pretty sure I heard the cyclist next to me mutter "muppet" under his breath.
Police presence disappeared once in west london and the same old twats in cars jumped reds at Eaton Square and Sloane Street. I guess if you're driving a 4x4 with blacked out windows then the rules don't really apply.

Police Motorbikes @ junction of Green lanes and seven sisters Rd, and junction of Holloway Rd and Seven sisters Rd. got shouted at to get behind the line at the second spot.

There were 3 or 4 coppers spread over the inbound Shepherds Bush green and I think some more on Euston Rd. All the cyclists had already stopped. Resisted urge to yell something about killer trucks at ineffectual coppers...

ftfy.
I've seen some vehicles where the tinted windows were as dark as the rear.

Saw lots of police out, saw a pair of slow fixeh bellends RLJ through several sets of lights whilst chatting away to each other. None of the cops seemed to notice/care.

Not a single officer between Paddington & Covent Garden, not even at the junction of Shaftesbury Av & High Holborn (pretty dangerous junction) - the usual RLJ free for all was in full effect.

8 PCSO's at the junction where Albert Bridge meets the Embankment completely ignored an HGV which jumped the lights under their noses.
Useless. Utterly useless.
I didn't see any on my route in from Sarf West London until I got to these clowns.
There were more at Exhibition Road who had a word with the cyclist in front of me for not wearing a helmet or hi viz.

The good news is that there's a noticeable drop on drivers using their phone while driving.
Probably go back to tweeting/facebook after the police have gone thought.

Police everywhere pulling up cyclists and car drivers, but not stopping or enforcing a single one of the 6-7 serious HGV offences I personally witnessed at major junctions. Right under their noses too.
When I stopped to ask the Police on Vauxhall Bridge if they would be talking to the HGV delivery driver parked on a double red line in the middle of Vauxhall junction gyratory (across the pavement and cycle path) they told me: "get out of here, mind your own business. You should be wearing hi-viz"

This all sounds quite exciting, I didn't see a single policeman on my way in, feeling a bit left out.

loads of rozzers about. was hoping for a discussion of my all black, helmetless outfit, but was left to my own devices.
Sighed when I saw a twat in a minicab marooned in the yellow box halfway across the Euston Road against the lights being completely ignored by the numerous pcso's in the area.

Don't forget to ask for their shift hours, pretty sure they have to give you this info if asked too.
