The whole point of the bike was the brakes, I barely ride brakeless anymore. The tires are just fine, 24c for a bit more comfort on the road.
I agree the cane creek levers are not the best looking but I definitely cannot stand the sram ones: hoods are too beefy compared to their skinny levers..
