Last Friday the frame went off to Saffron Frameworks. Matthew was really helpful and listened to what I wanted and also made some great suggestions.
The plans for the frame are:
Fill chainstay holes with braze. This seems safe enough as the steel is quite a thick gauge.
Grind off the bb cable guide, and replace with a more elegant solution underneath the bottom bracket shell.
Remove the downtube shifter mount and replace with a repositioned sti mount.

I have also started gathering a few more parts, and am trying to resist fitting them when the frame is done so I can get that photo.
