Also, if he gives evidence under oath then he will indeed have to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In that case, he loses one of his big negotiating cards with USADA/WADA/UCI for a reduced ban, which he's so obviously angling for. There are lots of reasons for him to settle, and precious few to keep fighting. Particularly when you're Public Enemy No.1 and given the Merkins' propensity towards jury trials.
