Right so watched some movies over the weekend from the upbeat and happy types to the downright violent and most dark and the most surreal.

American Flyers not seen it before but great movie about cycling with Kevin Kostner.
Prisoners another good movie with Jake Glyenhaal one of my favourite actors.
Irreversible if I could would be reversed from my mind. The darkest and most violent movie I have seen. Starring the impossibly beautiful Monica Belluci and the brilliant Vincent Cassel. Do not watch if you are are the squirmish type.
Holy Motors, another French independent movie which is so fucking surreal its unbelievable. Somehow includes Kylie Minoughe and Eva Mendes.

I loved Holy Motors. Can also agree with people that say it's pretentious shite, but I really liked it.

Martyrs is also French and horror classic, I started watching it and went MEH. From French director too, Enter The Void. Watched it twice, you may like too.
