how did you copy your existing HD over to the new one? easy to do?

also...is it such a good idea to place the SSD in the optical drive slot? will it kill your machine?

I used carbon copy cloner, worked very well.

The only issue I found was that the drive with the OS on it needed to be in the original bay. First time round they were the other way and it wouldn't boot. Swapped them and all was good.

I bought an external drive box for the optical drive but I could never get it to play nicely, both in terms of the drive in the box and in terms of recognition from the mac itself.

I think in one year I've missed the drive maybe twice...
