Most people have domestics/moggies (don't they?) so by their definition a mixture of breeds favoured for their friendly personalities. I don't think you have to worry so much about finding a suitable breed to match Patch, unless it's a breed known for being discriminative or anti-social (which the Norwegian Forest Cat isn't). Obviously rescue cats and mixed breed cats are the best :)
Having rescued three cats before our current breed , can say that neither moggies or rescue cats or pedigree cats are any better than each other . The one thing that you get with pedigrees is more of any idea of temprement . My brood get on equally well with any breeds ....they hate them all if the try and come in my garden !
