  • got there in the end...

I like the look of the C40, a lot.

  • One for the Roubaix fans:

  • I have just picked up a C40 which I will be building up in the next week.

Can't wait to get it built and out for a ride, bought it off my Dad's neighbor I have been lusting after it for a few years, I always pop round for a chat when I am over at my folks, he has owned it from new.

He won the over 75's category in a national TT earlier this year and decided to treat himself to a new frame, came round and asked my Dad if I would be interested in the C40, it is now in my possession.

Building it up with Silver Chorus 10 Speed and Black Shamals just waiting on two bits in the post to get cracking with it.

Do you live in the Fareham area? Is your dad's neighbours name Barrington? I'm a member of the same club as him and was sorely tempted by this when I heard it was for sale. Unfortunately there was no chance of justifying it as Ive already got a CLX,an EPS and a C59.
You've got a lovely frame there!

  • thats some stable saarf has

thanks very much, but I have nothing compared to some amongst our community, I went to get a bike off one guy once, turns out he practicaly had a house full of Chesinis, some chromovelato finish, he said he had 50

I live in London, but my Dad is indeed next door to Barrington in Fareham. I assume you know Bob Oliver too in that case? I bought my first decent road bike of him 3 or 4 years ago and haven't looked back since!

It is indeed lovely, I agonized for a few weeks as to whether to take it in truth as I didn't want to break up my other road bike (no room in my flat for any more bikes) but in the end it came down to Condor ----->Colnago. No contest really.

  • Can you identify this model of colnago. It's made of thron tubing and has a full campagnolo mirage groupset.

  • I'd say it's a C96. The only Colnago markings are on the front lugs, rear dropouts, and seat stay bridge?

  • I'll have a look. I'm yet to find anything so far.

  • The frame is completely stripped bk but I can't seem to find a serial number anywhere. Any advice??

  • I doubt it has one. Have a look on the rear dropouts, and the front derailleur mount. Probably nothing though.

  • Sadly not but I'm pretty happy with the idea of it being a c96 decor. Just wish I could track down the catalogue to confirm it. Thanks guys.

  • One last question, all the c96 decors I've seen have decor written on the frame, is there any reason why mine hasn't?

  • Upgrade to 11s just started

  • Hi Guys,

I picked this up the other day. It's an old Moducel Team frame and a real beauty. The previous owner tells me it's a colnago, but the detailing on the lugs don't look familiar to me. I've never seen the club logo without the stem. Any help much appreciated :)

    Sorry for wonky pics, Jim.

  • The seat cluster is not right either. I've never seen a Colnago with a 'fastback' design.

  • Nice frame, but not a Colnago ;)

  • Yeah, agree with the fastback cluster. So what is it?? I'm pretty sure it is a frame raced by the team.

  • look a little like these lugs on this Mercian

    http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/mercian.html

  • I've obtained this through work recently, I don't really know anything about it but its very light and has a carbon fork. Anyone know what sort of age it might be? I'll be building it up between now and the summer for some geared millage.

  • That might be a Mercian based on the wrap around lugs?

Do you have an image of the BB? Or serial number on rear dropout? Nice colour nonetheless.

  • paint looks fake, does it have clubs in the lugs? or a cutout under bb?

  • Probably is a fake, the price is a bargain regardless.

  • looks like a well made british road racing frame, e.g. argos, orbit, jf wilson

  • It is a very nice despite clearly not being a Colnago, should be a nice ride when I have it built.
