I initially sought out stuff that both looked and performed well as alternatives to Rapha, like Torm and Castelli.
Although I don't have much rapha, I do find that it feels, performs and looks a hell of a lot better to wear than the majority of the other stuff to be honest. I think for basics like commuting or shorter rides, going with one of the alternatives makes sense, but for key items like jackets or bibs, spending the money is worth it.
Spending an extra 30-40% for something you really like and will last ages is worth it in my opinion.
