  • Indeed. While respecting the spirit of freedom and anarchy, I had started pulling together some middle-aged notes a few weeks ago which go something like:

    1. stops – High Beech, Much Hadham, Cambridge

    2. Red lights - we will stop at them

    3. Aim to stick together

    4. I ought to provide my mobile number – anyone who drops off the back (mechanical or other reason) is welcome to call me so we can pause while you catch up, or send someone back if need be

    5. Volunteers to act as sweeper are welcome. Be aware of riders behind you - if you lose sight of them, slow down or pull in to regroup. Call ahead to let other riders know you’re stopping

    6. It’s best if we don’t filter past stationary traffic – pull up behind traffic in a queue at lights

    7. Look out for drivers who want to overtake, and be ready to speak with them; they may not know that there’s a long line of cyclists ahead.
