hmm, my money's on it being a carlton at first glance, do a google image search for "Carlton track ends" and you'll see that they made fugly track ends a bit of a trademark. Also the wrapover stays being reasonably round in section is pretty common on Carlton. There's a good webpage here http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/ it has plenty of stuff about the marque including frame number database and lug catalogues... http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/details/lugwork-p.htm & http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/details/lugwork.htm a quick look at that should confirm one way or the other. Claud Butler is also a good shout, I had a frame once that I was convinced was a Carlton Python and turned out to be a Claud.. Again your in luck in terms of web resources, there's an excellent set of catalogues here... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nkilgariff/ClaudButler.htm and plenty of photos here (of both Clauds and Carltons) - http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/readers_bikes.html Hope this helps
